WWE superstar Windham Rotunda, better known as Bray Wyatt, passed away at the age of 36 on August 24, Thursday. The former WWE champion made his debut in the wrestling world in 2009, and even though he got released in 2021 and 2022, Wyatt made a victorious return in September 2022. The WWE star was taken off WWE TV in February 2023 due to life-threatening illness.
As per reports, Wyatt was expected to make a return to the ring soon. The WWE Chief Content Officer Triple H announced the news of Rotunda’s demise on his social media. The WWE official wrote, "Just received a call from WWE Hall of Famer Mike Rotunda who informed us of the tragic news that our WWE family member for life Windham Rotunda - also known as Bray Wyatt - unexpectedly passed earlier today. Our thoughts are with his family, and we ask that everyone respect their privacy at this time.”
Several big names, including Dwayne Johnson, 'The Rock', also mourned the death of Wyatt. The wrestler-turned-actor wrote, "I'm heartbroken over the news of Bray Wyatt’s passing. Always had tremendous respect and love for him and the Rotunda family. Loved his presence, promos, in ring work and connection with wwe universe. Very unique, cool and rare character, which is hard to create in our crazy world of pro wrestling.”
Johnson added, “Still processing losing the goat, Terry Funk yesterday and now Bray today. My love, light, strength & mana to the Rotunda family and Funk family during this tough, heartbreaking time. As always, ‘thank you for the house’.”
Notably, Wyatt was very famous for his supernatural character ‘The Fiend', which was introduced in 2019.
