Ivan Toney, the Brentford striker, who had appeared in front of the disciplinary panel of the Football Association (FA) for 262 breaches of betting rules, has been banned from all football and football-related activities for eight months with immediate effect. The decision from the FA came after the 27-year-old footballer accepted the charges levelled on him.

Fabrizio Romano, one of the most esteemed football journalists, broke the news moments ago on Twitter. In his tweet, he mentioned that Ivan Toney has been banned from the sport for eight months and he has been fined £50,000. He further elaborated that the Brentford striker has been warned about his future conduct in relation to the breaches of the FA betting rules.

It has been reported that the sanctions on Toney have been imposed after a personal hearing with an independent regulatory commission. Furthermore, his ban runs up until January 16 of next year, but he can take part in training with his club during the last four months of his ban commencing from September 17 of this year.

Meanwhile, as a performer on the football field, Ivan Toney had a fantastic season in the Brentford shirt. He scored 20 goals in 33 Premier League matches during the 2022-23 season thus far. Many big clubs in Europe had an eye on him as their potential frontline striker for the next season, but his current ban from football will most likely ensure that a transfer doesn’t happen this summer.
