The world's biggest football tournament, FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar is set to kick off and hence fans are eagerly awaiting what is being planned for the opening ceremony of the iconic event. There have been many rumours and speculation regarding the line-up for the star-studded event, but there’s no confirmation from officials or celebrities themselves.
However, a huge clue regarding the potential list of artists that fans could expect to watch at the opening ceremony, recently surfaced when the World Music Awards official account posted an important tweet. But since then the tweet has been deleted.
The tweet reads: "Shakira gets ready for her World Cup Comeback on November 20 at the Fifa World Cup 2022 opening ceremony at the Al-Bayt Stadium, Al Khor, Qatar with BTS, Black Eyed Peas, Dua Lipa, J Balvin, Bollywood Star Nora Fatehi & Nigerian singing sensation Patrick Nnaemeka Okorie!"
The only celebrity so far who has confirmed performing is popular BTS star, Jung Kook. The news was confirmed by the official Twitter handle for BTS. Similarly, Big Hit Music also confirmed that he will be there: "Proud to announce that Jung Kook is part of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 Soundtrack & will perform at the World Cup opening ceremony. Stay tuned!"

Whereas sensational pop singer Dua Lia has straight-denied any rumours regarding possibly performing at the World Cup through her Instagram account. She cited the multiple violations of human rights in Qatar reported during the construction of stadiums for the Marquee Tournament.
Dua Lipa’s Instagram story said, “There is currently a lot of speculation that I will be performing at the opening ceremony of the world cup in Qatar. I will not be performing and nor have I ever been involved in any negotiation to perform. I will be cheering England on from afar and I look forward to visiting Qatar when it has fulfilled all the human rights pledges it made when it won the right to host the World Cup. One love, Dua x”
Other than these two celebrities: Nora Fatehi, Black Eyed Peas, J Balvin, Shakira and Patrick Nnaemeka Okorie haven’t confirmed their participation in the event. The World Cup will kick off with host nation Qatar taking on Ecuador at the Al-Bayt Stadium, Al Khor, Qatar.
