Team India have begun their ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024 campaign with two wins in as many games and star pacer Jasprit Bumrah has been named the Player of the Match on both occasions. With his sensational performances against Ireland and Pakistan, the 30-year-old Bumrah surpassed the likes of India skipper Rohit Sharma and veteran batter Virat Kohli in the list of most mentioned players on social media on June 10 and 11.
In India's opening T20 World Cup 2024 match against Ireland, the Men in Blue restricted the Green and Whites to 96 runs in 16 overs as Bumrah picked up two wickets in his three overs and gave away just six runs. Continuing his superb form in the match against Pakistan and delivering when the Indian side needed him the most, helped him win his second consecutive POTM award.
In the match against Pakistan on June 9, India placed a 120-run target, which seemed to be easily chaseable as India lost all the wickets with one over remaining. However, Bumrah's 3 for 14 in four overs sealed the game for the inaugural T20 World Cup winners.
Fans all around the world appreciated Bumrah's breathtaking bowling display against Pakistan and flooded social media with congratulatory messages and praised the Indian bowler. Recently, the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024 official broadcaster in India, Star Sports, released a social buzz survey ahead of the India and USA clash on Wednesday. In the list of most mentioned players on social media on June 10 and 11, Bumrah led players like Rohit and Virat while he is the only bowler among top 5 players in the list.
Team India and T20 WC 2024 co-hosts USA are in the top two positions in Group A with two wins in two matches. The two teams will go head-to-head against each other on Wednesday in the last match of the tournament at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York.
