India’s star duo of  Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty made it to the quarter-final of the men’s doubles event at the BWF World Championships 2023. The World Number 2 pair locked horns with the world No.10 ranked pair of Leo Rolly Carnando and Daniel Marthin from Indonesia in their round 16 clash. 

Maintaining their dominance right from the beginning, the Indian duo gained a 21-15, 19-21, 21-9 win over their Indonesian rivals. 

India’s promising combination of Gayatri Gopichand and Treesa Jolly was knocked out of the tournament. The Indian shuttlers locked horns with the Chen Qing Chen-Jia Yi Fan pair of Chinese Taipei 2023. Gayarti-Treesa gave a tough fight to the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Silver Medallists, but their efforts fell short, and they lost the game 14-21, 9-21. 

Earlier, the Indians clashed with the world No. 37 Chinese Taipei pair of Chang Ching Hui and Yang Ching Tun in R32 and defeated them 21-18, 21-10.
