India’s number one men’s doubles pair Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty have been in great form in 2023, winning the Indonesia Open and the Malaysia Open. The duo attained their career-best ranking (3) in the recently released BWF rankings on Tuesday, June 20, and became the first Indian doubles pair to reach the top thre3.

The Indian pair created history by becoming the first-ever Indian badminton players to win a Super 1000 event after winning Indonesia Open 2023 men’s doubles title on Sunday. The title triumph in Indonesia came against world champions Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik of Malaysia as the pair won in straight games.

In men's singles, HS Prannoy, who reached the semifinals of the Indonesia Open, held on to his ninth position. In the women's doubles, the top team of Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand remained static at 16, while Ashwini Ponnappa and Tanisha Crasto jumped 14 places to be at world no. 62

The duo clinched the Nantes International Challenge title, defeating Hung En-Tzu and Lin Yu-Pei of Chinese Taipei 21-15, 21-14 in the final. Young shuttler Priyanshu Rajawat rose to world number 30 to attain his career-best ranking and became the fourth Indian in the top 30.

PV Sindhu improved two places to reach world number 12 in the women's singles category. Despite withdrawing from most of the tournaments, Saina Nehwal also moved up one place to become world number 31.
