Manchester United midfielder Casemiro had a terrible outing in the highly-anticipated encounter against Liverpool on Sunday, September 1. During the first half, the Brazilian international was massively involved in conceding two goals to Luis Diaz before being substituted by Erik ten Hag at the break, but still, Liverpool managed to defeat Manchester United 3-0 in the Premier League match.
Notably, in the first half, Ryan Gravenberch managed to intercept Casemiro’s pass aimed at Kobbie Mainoo. This led to a swift counter-attack from Liverpool, which was tucked home by Luis Dias after a fantastic pass from Mohamed Salah, to give his team a 1-0 lead in the 35th minute..
Just seven minutes later, another fumble from Casemiro, 32, led to Luis Diaz scoring the second goal for Liverpool, once again assisted by Mohamed Salah. After the first half, the former Real Madrid player was substituted with Toby Collyer, who made his first appearance for Manchester United.
Liverpool went on to win the game by 3-0 with Mohamed Salah scoring his first and the team’s third goal of the game in the 56th minute.
Shortly after the game, Casemiro’s wife Anna Mariana Casemiro took to Instagram and posted a picture on stories. It consisted of the trophies her husband has won during his illustrious career. The picture was posted amid the fan criticism for the Brazilian after his poor day at the office.
Reacting on the midfielder’s poor performance, former Manchester United defender Gary Neville said, "Casemiro with a player of such experience the amount of times he gives the ball away in bad areas. He has no pressure on him and it’s a first time pass he tries. Liverpool have made mistakes in these areas, but Mo Salah is class and the cross is delicious," while commentating on Sky Sports.
