Former India cricket coach Ravi Shastri shared a piece of advice for Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer after they were dropped from the BCCI’s central annual contracts. Shastri opined that both the players will eventually find their way back to the Indian team. The news came after the two players refused to turn up for their domestic sides despite being warned. BCCI secretary Jay Shah had sent a strong warning letter to all the contracted players to play in domestic matches.
Kishan and Iyer have paid a hefty price for taking the warnings lightly. It also put their chances of getting picked for the T20 World Cup, which is scheduled to commence on June 5, 2024. Ishan and Iyer were a part of the Indian squad for the ODI World Cup 2023 squad, where Iyer scored 500 plus runs, and played a key role in guiding the side to the final of the marquee tournament. Comebacks define the spirit: Ravi Shastri’s piece of advice to Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan
The former India head coach shared a piece of advice to both youngsters and said that he believes they will come back stronger. Shastri took to Twitter to say, “In the game of cricket, comebacks define the spirit. Chin-up, @ShreyasIyer15 and @ishankishan51! Dig deep, face challenges, and come back even stronger. Your past achievements speak volumes, and I have no doubt you’ll conquer once again.”
In another post, Shastri lauded the Indian cricket governing body for creating a separate category for fast bowling categories. He said, “Big applause to @BCCI and @JayShah for the game-changing move with ‘fast bowling’ contracts. A crucial step in gearing up for Down Under later this year. The emphasis on Test Cricket and Domestic Cricket is a powerful message, setting the right tone for the future of our beloved sport!”
