Brazilian fighter Charles Oliveira and Russian fighter Islam Makhachev are set to square off against each other at UFC 280 on October 22 for the lightweight championship and the MMA superstar, Conor McGregor has picked former lightweight champion as his favorite to win the bout.

The lightweight title has been vacant since Charles Oliveira was ripped off his belt for missing weight ahead of his last fight against Justin Gaethje. However, a new fighter will be crowned as the lightweight champion after the bout between Oliveira and Islam Makhachev in the main card event of UFC 280.

During a Q&A session on Twitter, a fan asked the 34-year-old Irish fighter to pick between Charles Oliveira and Islam Makhachev and the 'Notorious' responded with a simple answer. The fan asked Conor, " Who you got, Oliveira or Islam? " McGregor replied, " Olly (Charles Oliveira) and easily. "

Apart from the lightweight title, other co-main event on October 22 features bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling, who will look for his second title defense, taking on former titleholder TJ Dillashaw.

Meanwhile, Conor McGregor has not stepped in the octagon since July 2021 after he suffered a gruesome leg injury during his third fight against Dustin Poirier. However, few videos surfaced online showing McGregor's training routine as the fighter appears to be in the final stage of his recovery.
