The Irish MMA fighter, Conor McGregor, has proposed a showdown between Canelo Alvarez and Oscar De La Hoya at his newly co-owned promotion Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship (BKFC) on social media. His comments came after De La Hoya had some choice words for Alvarez to rekindle their rift upon sharing the stage for the first time in over four years.
Notably, Canelo Alvarez signed as a 20-year-old with Oscar De La Hoya’s Golden Boy Promotions, playing a key role in building him into a star in the world of boxing. But, they grew apart over time before Alvarez sued De La Hoya and Golden Boy Promotions in 2020, claiming breach of contract among other things, which led to the end of their relationship.
Conor McGregor took to his official X account, quoting the short clip of Canelo Alvarez and Oscar De La Hoya going at one another. He wrote, “I’d love these two go at it Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship. Take off the gloves and fight, bitch! @bareknucklefc”.
If he came closer, I’d f**k him : Canelo Alvarez to Oscar De La Hoya
Oscar De La Hoya, the CEO of Golden Boy Promotions, and the co-promoter for Jaime Munguia, went into business for himself at a news conference before his meal ticket to challenge Canelo Alvarez for the Undisputed Super Middleweight Championship. He opened up old wounds by telling Canelo Alvarez to put some f****** respect on his name.
In response, Canelo Alvarez remarked, as per ESPN, "This idiot, this (Oscar) here to my left, try not to forget that I was already 'Canelo' when I came to the United States and that he only profited from my name." The super middleweight undisputed champion of the world also trash-talked about Oscar in English. He said, " If he came closer, I’d f**k him. He’s a f**king asshole. He tried to steal money from his fighters. He tried to steal money from me… F**king motherf**ker, son of a b*tch. "
