With the 18th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) set to begin from March 22, the tournament is set to clash with Pakistan’s premier T20 league, Pakistan Super League (PSL). Seeing this, South African cricketer Corbin Bosch has found himself in hot waters as he entered the drafts of the PSL in January after initially going unsold in the IPL 2025 mega auction, held in November 2024 in Jeddah.
Entering as the most sought after players, Bosch was picked up by Babar Azam-led Peshawar Zalmi in the diamond category. However, things took a different turn as he was signed by the five-time IPL champions, Mumbai Indians (MI) as a replacement player for injured Lizaad Williams.
PCB sends legal notice to Corbin Bosch for prioritising IPL over PSL
The decision of the South African bowling all-rounder to join his IPL franchise hasn’t rested well with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). As a result, the PCB has sent a legal notice to the 30-year-old for breaching the contractual obligations.
"The legal notice was served through his agent, and the player has been asked to justify his actions of withdrawing from his professional and contractual commitments. The PCB management has also outlined the repercussions of his departure from the league and expects his response within the stipulated time frame. The PCB will not make any further comments on the matter," said a statement by the PCB, as quoted by Times Now.
It is to be noted that this is the first instance since PSL was launched in 2016 that its window will clash with that of the IPL. While the IPL 2025 is set to commence from March 22 with the final scheduled to be played on May 25, the PSL will run from April 11 till May 17.
