
South African all-rounder Corbin Bosch had recently been issued a legal notice by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for allegedly breaching his contractual obligations to the Pakistan Super League (PSL). Bosch was selected by Peshawar Zalmi in the Diamond category during the PSL 2025 draft in January. However, he withdrew from the PSL to join the Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League (IPL) as a replacement for the injured Lizaad Williams. The all-rounder has now reportedly issued a statement to Pakistani officials, explaining the reason for his sudden breach of the PSL contract.
The 2025 Pakistan Super League (PSL) schedule was announced earlier, with the tournament shifting to an April-May window (April 11 to May 18) to avoid clashes with the ICC Champions Trophy that happened in Pakistan. With this the tournament is set to clash with the IPL and therefore players like Corbin Bosch cannot participate in both of these events simultaneously. Bosch, who has only played three matches as of yet for the South Africa national team, had been included in the Champions Trophy squad as a replacement for injured Anrich Nortje.
Did not intent to disrespect PSL: Bosch after PSL snub
Bosch has reportedly explained to PCB officials that his decision was a career oriented move, emphasizing that joining the Mumbai Indians; a franchise with a strong presence in multiple T20 leagues around the world, could significantly benefit his career. He stated that his decision was not intended to disrespect the PSL. Mumbai Indians announced the signing of Corbin Bosch on 8th March to replace the injured Lizaad Williams in their squad.
Bosch, who has won the U-19 World Cup with the South African team in 2014, also was the player of the match in the final of that World Cup. Although after that he made his debut into the senior team in 2024, he has been a regular performer in the domestic circuit. He has also played for the MI Cape-Town team in the 2024-25 season of the SA20, picking up 11 wickets in the tournament.
