England cricket team secured a berth in the T20 World Cup final with a dominating performance against India in the second semi-final clash at Adelaide Oval. Notably, Jos Buttler and Alex Hales stitched a match-winning partnership to reach their target without a wicket down.
England’s daunting performance was lauded by the cricket fraternity as it came against one of the favourites of the ICC tournament. Meanwhile, England cricketer Ravi Bopara got heavily trolled by the official Twitter handle of the Ireland cricket team after making a pompous tweet in praise of England on social media.
“Great performance and display of power and ruthlessness from England. There’s only one team that can actually challenge England and that is Pakistan. Otherwise If England could enter a 2ndXI in the #T20Iworldcup2022 it would be a England v England2XI Final,” wrote Ravi Bopara after England clinched a comprehensive game against India.
In response, the official Twitter handle of the Ireland cricket team wrote, “<clears throat>,” taking a sly dig at the England cricket team.
Notably, England’s only defeat in the ICC tournament came against Ireland as the latter stunned their opponent in the Super 12 match in a rain-affected contest. Meanwhile, the witty response from Cricket Ireland drew a lot of responses from the cricket fans as they were quick to highlight how perfectly Cricket Ireland shut down the England cricketer.
