On Saturday, October 28, Cristiano Ronaldo, the Portuguese footballing superstar, who plays for Al-Nassr in the Saudi Pro League, was in attendance for the highly anticipated crossover boxing match between the WBC Heavyweight Champion Tyson Fury and the MMA fighter Francis Ngannou. At the Boulevard Hall in Riyadh, one of the greatest boxers of all-time had to dig deep to his opponent by a split decision, after he got knocked down early in the fight.

After 10 rounds of intense action, the non-title boxing match went the way of Tyson Fury against Francis Ngannou on the judges scorecard, which read (94-95, 96-93, 95-94). On his professional boxing debut, Ngannou took Fury to his limit, knocking him down with a left hook in the third round, and giving him a cut on his forehead with a small mark underneath the left eye.

The Fury-Ngannou fight was attended by a host of celebrities from all over the world, including the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, his partner Georgina Rodriguez, Salman Khan, Conor McGregor, Chuck Liddell, Larry Holmes, Rio Ferdinand, and Luis Figo, among others. Mike Tyson was in the corner of Francis Ngannou, after playing an instrumental role in his preparation for the fight.

In his post-fight comments inside the boxing ring, Tyson Fury was all praises for Francis Ngannou and said, as per The Guardian, “That definitely wasn’t in the script. He’s one hell of a fighter. He’s strong, a big puncher, and a lot better as a boxer than we thought he would ever be.”

Francis Ngannou shared his thoughts on the match and said, “I feel great. I’m a fighter. And I’m ready to fight any time soon. We can run it back again, and I’m sure I will get the better. This was my first boxing match. It was a great experience.”
