Cristiano Ronaldo is set to be back in Portuguese colours as he has been selected in the Portugal squad for the Euro 2024 Qualifiers. The official social media handle of the Portuguese team made the announcement on social media with the 40-year-old Pepe has also been included in the squad. Portugal is a part of the 'J Group' in the tournament along with five other national teams. In this leg of the competition, Portugal is expected to play two matches, one against Bosnia and Herzegovina and the other against Iceland.

The 2016 Euro winners are leading their respective group easily as they have won all their previous matches. Portugal also have a strong goal difference of 10 goals. Portugal faced Liechtenstein in their first game whom they steamrolled 4-0 with ease with Ronaldo delivering a match-winning performance with a brace to his name. In the encounter against Luxembourg, A Selecao won the game again and the scoreline read 6-0 with the five-time Ballon d'Or winner scoring another brace.

While Portugal are scheduled to host Bosnia and Herzegovina on June 17, they will face Iceland at the  Laugardalsvöllur stadium on June 20.  Portugal took to their official Twitter handle and shared the 26-man squad for the upcoming European championship qualifiers and wrote, "The Chosen Ones 🫡 These are the squad for the Euro Qualifiers!"

Portugal's legend had a stunning season in the Saudi Pro League too as he carried his club, Al-Nassr almost to the title but was not successful in the end due to less support from other teammates. They were in the hunt for the title right till their penultimate game, but unfortunately, things did not go Al-Nassr’s way. Ronaldo scored 14 goals in the league in just 16 appearances after joining the club mid-season following his Manchester United exit after a controversial interview with Piers Morgan.

The 38-year-old Ronaldo is also the leading goal scorer per 90 minutes in the Saudi league at an astonishing rate of 0.88 goals per 90 minutes and was the fifth-highest scorer in the league overall. With several rumours going around regarding Ronaldo’s continuation with the Saudi Arabian club, it is still unknown whether he will represent Al-Nassr in the next season or not. Al-Nassr will face Al-Fateh in their last league match of the season on May 31 at the KSU stadium.
