Portugal forward Cristiano Ronaldo was involved in a quick encounter with a pitch invader during the recent Euro 2024 qualifier. After some strong performances in Saudi Pro League, Ronaldo continued his form against Luxembourg as he scored twice, taking his tally to three in the international break. 


After the game, as CR7 and other Portugal players, a fan wearing an Al-Nassr jersey rushed onto the field. As he came near Ronaldo, the on-ground staff held the fans, who were ushering him away. Spotting that the fan was wearing his new club's apparel, the former Manchester United striker gave him a thumbs up as a sign of appreciation.

Going back to the game, Ronaldo-led Portugal ran riot against Luxembourg scoring six goals. With this double, CR7 now has an impressive total of 122 goals for his country in 198 appearances. In another recent milestone, Ronaldo became the most capped footballer in footballing history as he featured in his 197th match for Portugal against Liechtenstein.


Along with CR7’s double, Joao Felix, Bernardo Silva, Otavio and Rafael Leao, all scored for the Navegadores. With this win against Luxembourg, Portugal comfortably sits on top of Group J. The Portuguese side now has six points from two games and a goal difference of +10 without conceding a single one.


Speaking about the match and Ronaldo’s performance, Portugal manager Roberto Martinez was elated and talked about how players like him bring valuable experience to the side. He said, “Cristiano is a unique player in the world, with the highest number of international caps.”


“The experience he has for the dressing room is very important. All players have an important role. The younger ones due to their willingness to play and players like Cristiano Ronaldo, Rui Patricio and Bernardo Silva bring experience. It’s important to have a complete dressing room.”
