Cristiano Ronaldo, the Portuguese footballing superstar, has shut down rumours of leaving Saudi Pro League club Al-Nassr for their rivals or a European team this year. The 39-year-old, who is currently in the midst of the final six months of his contract with Al-Nassr, revealed that he and his family are happy about their life in Saudi Arabia, and his aim of winning more titles for the club hasn’t changed one bit despite not being the best team in the country.
Notably, in the Saudi Pro League 2024-25, Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr are currently in fourth place on the standings with 25 points in 13 matches, 11 points adrift of league leaders Al-Ittihad. In second place are Al-Hilal with 34 points in 11 matches in the domestic league in Saudi Arabia, ahead of Al-Qadisiyah, who have accumulated 28 points at this stage of the season, keeping Al-Nassr firmly behind them in fourth spot.
I’m happy and my family is happy. We started a new life in this beautiful country: Cristiano Ronaldo
As far as the AFC Champions League 2024-25 is concerned, Al-Nassr find themselves in third place in Group B with 13 points in six matches, three behind Al-Ahli Saudi and Al-Hilal, the fellow Saudi Pro League clubs. While speaking to the domestic league’s official social media on his second anniversary of joining Al-Nassr, Cristiano Ronaldo said, as per Latestly, “I’m happy and my family is happy. We started a new life in this beautiful country. Life is good, football is good. In terms of individual and collective, we are still there. We are still improving.”
Cristiano Ronaldo reiterated his commitment to playing for Al-Nassr in the final six months of his current contract, and remarked, “It’s hard to compete with teams like Al-Hilal and Al-Ittihad, but we are still there, still pushing and fighting. Football is like that; you have good moments and bad moments. But, for me, the most important thing is to be professional, to push hard, respect the club, respect your contract and believe that things will change – for Al Nassr to try to win more titles.”
Al-Nassr are slated to play against Al-Akhdoud in their next game in the Saudi Pro League 2024-25 at the King Saud University Stadium in Riyadh on Thursday, January 9.
