Croatia have qualified for the FIFA World Cup semifinals for the second consecutive time after finishing as the 2018 World Cup runners up and are scheduled to face Lionel Messi-led Argentina in Qatar in the semi-final fixture on Tuesday night. Ahead of the semi-final, Croatia manager Zlatko Dalic believed that a victory against the 2021 Copa America winners will make it the Vatreni's 'all-time greatest' win.
The semi-final fixture between Croatia and Argentina will witness two previous golden ball winners, Luka Modric and Lionel Messi going head-to-head against each other to help their team reach the FIFA World Cup 2022 final.
Ahead of the Argentina vs Croatia semifinal fixture, Croatia manager Zlatko Dalic told the media, "If we win tomorrow that would make it the greatest historical game for Croatia of all time. It is one of the most important, most significant matches for us, after just four years to repeat the success would be such an achievement on the world stage with a new national team is fantastic and I believe it is a great success."
Dalic praised his team's two straight semifinals appearances and added, "We are among the four best teams in the world, that is an extraordinary success for Croatia, it is a great thing for two World Cups in a row to be in the four best national teams in football."
The 56-year-old Croatian believed that Argentina will be under more pressure than his side and also talked about Lionel Messi, who has won the most Man of the Match awards in the World Cups. Dalic said, "We want more, we are playing the great Argentina, a terrific team led by Lionel Messi, they are highly-motivated and under more pressure than Croatia at this moment in time."
Argentina and Croatia are scheduled to square off against each other on Tuesday night at the Lusail Stadium and the winner between them will face the winners between France and Morocco in the FIFA World Cup 2022 final on December 18.
