India’s youngest World Chess Champion, D Gukesh recently met Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. During their meet in New Delhi, Gukesh also gifted PM Modi a signed chessboard which autographed by him and China’s Ding Liren, whom he defeated with a 7.5-6.5 scoreline, to win the World Chess Championship match earleir this month in Singapore. Indian PM hailed Gukesh for his excellence, and also talked about the importance of yoga and meditation which the 18-year-old has embrace in his journey.
During their brief conversation, PM Narendra also recalled an old video of D Gukesh when he was 11 years old, where the latter expressed his dream of becoming the youngest world champion in chess. After that, Modi applauded Gukesh for his dedication and hardwork for making his dreams come true, and make the whole country proud by winning the title. “Today, I had the absolute honor of meeting our Honourable Prime Minister, Shri @narendramodi Ji! It was one of the most cherished moments of my life.” Gukesh wrote on social media while sharing a glimpse of his meet with the Indian PM.

After the meet, Indian PM Narendra Modi also shared a photo with D Gukesh along with his parents and hailed the 18-year-old for his dedication and determination. ““Had an excellent interaction with chess champion and India’s pride, @DGukesh!I have been closely interacting with him for a few years now, and what strikes me most about him is his determination and dedication. His confidence is truly inspiring. In fact, I recall seeing a video of his few years ago where he had said he would become the youngest world champion— a prediction that has now clearly come true thanks to his own efforts,” PM Modi wrote on his social media while sharing a picture with D Gukesh.
