Dale Steyn, the South African legend, will reportedly be working with the young fast bowlers from England Lions on a short-term basis next month. The 41-year-old, who is widely regarded as one of the greatest fast bowlers of all-time, will be a part of the coaching staff of the new England Lions head coach Andrew Flintoff on his the latter’s first tour along with Neil McKenzie, his former South African teammate.
Notably, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) have a named 19-member training squad of England Lions recently, with the upcoming South Africa tour set to happen November 20 to December 14, during which Dale Steyn will be working with the young pacers, as per the report from ESPNcricinfo. This tour is set to conclude with England Lions taking on South Africa A in a four-day match.

There are ten fast bowlers in the England Lions squad, with whom Dale Steyn is going to work with, including four of them, namely Pat Brown, Josh Hull, Dillon Pennington and John Turner, who have been a part of the England national team setup in the past summer. Meanwhile, the other six pacers are Harry Moore, Tom Lawes, Mitchell Stanley, Zaman Akhtar, Henry Crocombe, and Kasey Aldridge.
The performance director of the ECB, Ed Barney, spoke about the fast bowlers in the England Lions setup for the South Africa tour, and said, “Over half the squad consists of seamers, reflecting our continued focus on supporting these players to achieve their potential.” Meanwhile, Neil McKenzie, the former South African cricketer, who has been a part of Andrew Flintoff’s coaching staff in The Hundred with the Northern Superchargers earlier this year, is set to oversee a group of batters of England Lions for the upcoming tour to South Africa.
