Delhi Capitals owner Parth Jindal has issued a statement clarifying his animated gesture following the wicket of Rajasthan Royals skipper Sanju Samson. In their Tuesday’s clash at Arun Jaitley Stadium, the home side had romped the Pink outfit by 20 runs to keep their playoff contention alive.
However, Kerala keeper-batter Sanju Samson’s stellar show in the run-chase made all the Delhi fans stand in their seats. In a monumental chase of 222, Samson got to 86 in just 46 balls when he was subjected to a controversial decision by on-field umpires. That made the 29-year-old have a long discussion with the officials followed by an animated reaction from Parth Jindal, which later was criticized by many people.
Now, clarifying his gesture, Jindal took to his X account and said, “Was lovely interacting with Manoj and Sanju- was incredible to witness his power hitting at the Kotla- he got us all extremely worried and hence the animated reaction when he was out! Had the pleasure of congratulating him as well. Great win by our boys!”
In their thrilling high-scoring contest at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi Capitals held their nerves tight to seal the game by 20 runs. Batting first, the home side raced off to a compatible score of 221, thanks to the brutal hitting show by Jake Fraser-McGurk, Tristan Stubbs, and Abhishek Porel.
Chasing the total, the Rajasthan Royals only managed to score 201/8 after 20 overs. Apart from skipper Samson, no RR batter stood up in the chase with Riyan Parag registering the second-best score of 27 runs.
