KL Rahul, who became a member of Delhi Capitals (DC) at a mammoth amount of INR 14 crore at the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 mega auction, might not show up in the initial games of his team in the competition. DC faced a jolt a couple of weeks ahead of IPL 2025, with England stalwart Harry Brook pulling out of the tournament for two consecutive seasons. Axar Patel, the skipper of the side, will be expected to get quality names to fill the shoes of both players to help DC get a magnificent start in the competition.
Rahul’s wife Athiya Shetty is expected to deliver her first child, indicated Australia Women’s star Alyssa Healy, whose spouse Mitchell Starc will be a teammate of Rahul in DC. Healy spilled the beans on the LiSTNR Sport YouTube channel. "No Harry Brook, (so) it will be interesting to see who the replacement player will be. They have KL Rahul, who will probably not play the first couple of games I think... they are awaiting the birth of (their) child, but that dynamic, is really cool," remarked Healy.
DC will look to play quality cricket under Axar Patel’s leadership
Axar, who has been part of DC since 2019, will be handling the captaincy mantle. The all-rounder will want his men to scintillate the tournament. DC have quality players such as Starc, Faf du Plessis, Tristan Stubbs, Jake Fraser-McGurk, Kuldeep Yadav, Mukesh Kumar, and Karun Nair along with Axar.
Starc will be spearheading Delhi’s fast-bowling unit while Kuldeep will be handed the task to lead the spin-bowling department confidently. du Plessis’s responsibility will be to deliver a fierce start to the side with his bat. Stubbs will look to continue his aggressive playing style while batting at the middle order.
