The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are having a decent run at the ongoing IPL 2024, having won five matches and losing as many so far in the tournament. In their recent match, where the Ruturaj Gaikwad-led side suffered their fifth loss against Punjab Kings in IPL, also saw Deepak Chahar walk off the field with injury.
Seeing him struggle with the hamstring issue, there were reports that his remainder of the season could be in jeopardy. While Head Coach Stephen Fleming in the post-match press conference confirmed that “Deepak Chahar doesn’t look good”. Now, days after Chahar’s injury, CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan has also opened up on the Indian pacer’s injury.
“Deepak’s injury is not looking good. I will not say he is ruled out of the season but doubtful,” Kasi Viswanathan said. He also confirmed that Chahar hasn’t travelled with the side to Dharamsala for their next match against Punjab Kings as he is said to begin his rehabilitation.
Tushar Deshpande down with flu; likely to miss match against PBKS
The Chennai Super Kings camp has been struggling with injuries. Apart from Deepak Chahar, CSK pacer Tushar Deshpande is also unwell and is likely to miss the reverse fixture against Punjab Kings. Although, the pacer has travelled with the team to Dharamsala despite being down with flu, he continues to be under the medical team’s assessment.
The defending champions will take on Punjab Kings in a reverse fixture on Sunday, May 5 at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala.
