Ahead of Gujarat Giants’ must win game against UP Warriorz in ongoing Women’s Premier League, the franchise has been back in the news amid the Deandra Dottin controversy. The 31-year-old who was picked by the Giants for INR 60 Lakh made shocking revelations as she shared a detailed statement on social media.  Dottin slammed Gujarat Giants for her omission as she narrated the entire event.

“I would like to make it clear that I had experienced minor abdominal pain and swelling for which I had sought treatment in December 2022. I was transparent about this in correspondence with Gujarat Giants’ physiotherapist,” Dottin mentioned in her statement.

“However, this was misconstrued and later conveyed to the members of the franchise’s management team as me ‘Experiencing abdominal pain post-session, which was not what I had indicated,” she added further.

In her statement she also clarified that she had got medical clearance prior to the start of the tournament but the franchise had insisted on getting assessed further.

However, it is to be noted that Kim Garth replaced Dottin in the Gujarat Giants squad at the start of the season. The side also lost skipper Beth Mooney after she sustained an injury in the opening match of the franchise.

With the Mumbai Indians Women and Delhi Capitals Women having already qualified, UP Warriorz, Royal Challengers Bangalore Women and Gujarat Giants are fighting to secure the qualification berth in the ongoing WPL.
