Deepti Sharma, the Indian all-rounder, will be returning to the Hundred after signing with the London Spirit as the injury replacement for Grace Harris. This will be the second time for the 26-year-old representing the London Spirit in the Women’s Hundred after a fruitful inaugural season of the tournament in 2021.
In her eight matches in the Hundred 2021, Deepti Sharma picked up 10 wickets in eight matches at an average of 13.60 and an economy of 5.26 with the London Spirit. The next season of the Hundred saw her warm the bench in the Birmingham Phoenix squad before missing out on the tournament last year.
Deepti Sharma returns to Hundred; signs with London Spirit
Notably, the London Spirit are set to play their Hundred 2024 season opener in the women’s competition against the Southern Brave, on July 24, at the Rose Bowl, Southampton. But, Deepti Sharma won’t be a part of it since she is picked in the Indian squad for the Women’s Asia Cup, which will be played in Dambulla.
With that, Erin Burns will be replacing Deepti Sharma in the first couple of matches of the Hundred in the London Spirit squad. It is important to note that the Australian is currently playing in county cricket in England with the Northern Diamonds.
Apart from Deepti Sharma, there are two other players from India, namely Richa Ghosh (Birmingham Phoenix) and Smriti Mandhana (Southern Brave), who will be missing the first week of action in the Hundred.
