Delhi Capitals had paid ₹8 crore in the IPL 2023 auction to acquire the services of Prithvi Shaw after he had spent the first five seasons of his league career with the franchise. But, the decision from the DC management to keep the faith in the young cricketer didn’t pay dividends as he struggled massively during the last season of the IPL.

During a stop-start IPL 2023 season, Prithvi Shaw played only eight matches for the Delhi Capitals, scoring just 106 runs at a poor average of 13.25 and a strike rate of 124.71. At least he scored to put together one fifty in the latter half of the tournament against the Punjab Kings at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala to salvage his season somewhat.

Now, with just a day remaining to the final announcement from all IPL teams in regards to announcing their retained and released players list before the 2024 auction next month, the Times of India has reported that Prithvi Shaw will stay put at the Delhi Capitals for the next season. The reasoning behind the decision from the DC management is yet unknown, but one thing’s for sure, the talent and skill possessed by Prithvi Shaw the batter is second to none in the Indian cricketing circuit.
