The No. 11 Toyota driver, who has won the NASCAR Cup Series 50 times, has signed a multi-year contract with the only team he has ever raced for. The news was revealed by Hamlin and team owner Joe Gibbs on their podcast, "Actions Detrimental," on Monday.
Since participating in seven races for Joe Gibbs Racing in 2005, Hamlin has raced in the Cup Series. Since taking over the No. 11 car full-time in 2006, he has only raced it with JGR, and since then, he has won three Daytona 500s.
"Joe Gibbs Racing has been my home for almost 20 years now,” Hamlin mentioned recently. "My relationship with Joe (Gibbs), my team, and everyone at JGR means a lot to me. We have accomplished so much together over the years. I’m excited to finally announce this so we can put all our focus on chasing the championship,” he added further.
The No. 11 team's sponsors for the upcoming season have not been revealed. FedEx has been Hamlin's primary sponsor for more than 30 Cup Series races each year for the duration of his whole career. But this year, a few new logos have arrived on his No. 11 Toyota, including those for Coca-Cola, Yahoo!, Shingrix, and Mavis Tyres & Brakes.
Along with Michael Jordan, Hamlin shares ownership of the Toyota-affiliated 23XI Racing team. Hamlin stated on the show that Toyota and 23XI will keep working together. Bubba Wallace and Tyler Reddick, the team's two drivers, both advanced to the 2023 Cup Series Playoffs.
