Indian cricketer Shreyas Iyer wasn’t happy with the fake news regarding his injury being shared on social media. The right-hander schooled a popular X user (formerly known as Twitter user) Mufaddal Vohra for reporting that Iyer will miss the upcoming Ranji Trophy 2024-25 match against Tripura due to shoulder injury. However, the user apologized for spreading fake news and mentioned that the news was published by Cricbuzz.
Using Cricbuzz as a source, the X user posted “Shreyas Iyer to miss the next match of Ranji Trophy due to shoulder injury.” However, the post got a reply from Shreyas Iyer himself as the Mumbai batter wrote “Guys seriously let’s do some homework before publishing news.” After Iyer’s befitting reply, the user deleted the post and wrote “Hey Shreyas, sorry if the news isn't accurate. I've had no intentions to do it. It was published by Cricbuzz. Sorry once again!"
Shreyas Iyer to miss upcoming Ranji Trophy due to personal reasons
Just a few hours after rumors of Shreyas Iyer getting shoulder injury, the reason for him missing the upcoming Ranji Trophy match was finally revealed. According to a report from ESPN Cricinfo, Iyer will not be a part of Mumbai’s fixture against Tripura citing personal reasons. The right-hander requested the Mumbai senior men's selection committee for a time off which was accepted by the committee.
Shreyas Iyer shown great form in the last match against Maharashtra, where he scored 142 runs in the first innings as Mumbai won the match by 9 wickets. Along with Iyer, Prithvi Shaw has also been dropped from Mumbai’s squad, with Akhil Herwadkar and Karsh Kothari coming as replacements.
