On day four of their Duleep Trophy 2024 third round clash at the Rural Development Trust Stadium in Anantapur, India A thrashed India C by 132 runs to register a dominant win and lift the title. Shashwat Rawat was declared the Player of the Match for scoring a valuable century in the first innings and bringing up a fifty in the second innings for India A, to help his team reach the top spot with 12 points in the Duleep Trophy standings, and claim the title.
After winning the toss, the India C captain, Ruturaj Gaikwad, decided to put India A into batting first, and his bowlers managed to reduce the opposition to 297/10 in 90.5 overs. While none of the top-order batters breached the double-digit mark, Shashwat Rawat (124 off 250), Avesh Khan (51* off 68) and Shams Mulani (44 off 76) helped the side put a decent total on the board after Vijaykumar Vyshak picked up four wickets, while Anshul Kamboj and Gaurav Yadav picked three and two wickets respectively for India C.
Prasidh Krishna and Tanush Kotian help India A restrict India C to 217/10
In response, the first innings of India C was a decent one as they came closer to the first inning target but were restricted to 234 runs in 71 overs with three wickets each for Avesh Khan and Aqib Khan, despite the 82 off 124 deliveries with nine fours from Abhisek Porel. With a first innings lead of 63 runs, India A ran riot with the bat in hand with the likes of Riyan Parag and Shashwat Rawat notching up 50-plus scores while Kushagra played a well-built 57-ball 42.
India A declared their second innings at 286/8 to set up a massive 349-run target for India C to chase down in the final innings of the Duleep Trophy 2024 match. Sai Sudharsan brought up a hundred in the run chase in the India C colours, but Prasidh Krishna and Tanush Kotian shared six wickets among themselves along with two wickets from Aaqib Khan and a wicket from Shams Mulani, to help bundle them out for 217 runs and win the match by 132 runs.
