With the India - Sri Lanka T20I series set to get underway from Saturday, July 27 in Pallekele, the hosts have been handed a massive blow. Dushmantha Chameera, who last played in Sri Lanka colours in January 2024 against Zimbabwe, has been ruled out of upcoming three-match series with an injury.
Chameera, who was named in the 16-member squad which was announced by Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) on Tuesday, July 23, will miss the upcoming series after he sat out in his team’s last matches in the Lanka Premier League (LPL) 2024. Chairman of the Sri Lanka Cricket selection committee, Upul Tharanga said that Chameera’s medical report was received yesterday, confirming the player will miss the entire series.
However, the Sri Lanka cricket board hasn’t named his replacement, pacer Asitha Fernando is likely to be included in the side as Chameera’s replacement.
