Emma Raducanu on Wednesday, January 3 confirmed her spot in the main draw of the upcoming Australian Open 2024. The first Grand Slam of the year, which kickoff on January 14, Sunday and go on till January 28 in Melbourne.
The 21-year-old, who recently made her comeback since last playing in April 2023, was set to participate in the qualifiers of the hard-court tournament, but her inclusion in the main draw comes after Lauren Davis withdrew from the main draw of the AO2024.
The singles 70 ranked American player, Lauren Davis decided to pull out after suffering a shoulder injury. Apart from Lauren, Petra Kvitova has also withdrawn from the AO2024 with Tamara Zidansek getting a place in the main draw.
Talking about the British star player, he became the only qualifier to win a Grand Slam after her triumph at the US Open. Raducanu is currently taking part at the ASB Classic in Auckland. She defeated Romania’s Elena Gabriela Ruse 6-3, 4-6, 7-5 on Tuesday and will next face Ukraine’ Elina Svitolina in the Round of 16.
