After Australia’s first loss in the ongoing Ashes 2023, Aussie opener David Warner’s wife - Candice Warner has shared a cryptic post alluding to the left-hander’s early retirement. Warner hasn’t been in the best of forms over this Ashes series as he only managed to score a combined five runs at Headingley.

Similarly, the 36-year-old has only scored 141 runs over the last six innings with an average of 23.50. Hence after the third Test match, Warner’s wife Candice shared a cryptic post where she alluded to the fact this might be the last time the Southpaw may play in the longest format of cricket.

Candice Warner shared, “The end of an era for us touring with test cricket, it’s been fun. Forever your biggest supporters and your girl gang. Love you @davidwarner31.”

Earlier before the start of the recent World Test Championship final against India, David Warner had laid out a plan to announce his retirement from all formats of cricket in a media interaction at the Beckenham ground. Warner stated that the 2024 T20 World Cup would be the last game in an Australian jersey. While he also expressed that the Test series against Pakistan next would be the final red-ball international fixture.

Warner said, “That’s pending on what you guys write, and whether the selectors pick me.” You’ve got to score runs. I’ve always said the [T20] World Cup would probably be my final game. I probably owe it to myself and my family if I can score runs here [to] continue to play back in Australia. I can definitely say I won’t be playing that West Indies series. If I can get through this and make the Pakistan series I will definitely finish up then.”
