India's left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh felt the heat of making an error in a crucial game against Pakistan, after young pacer dropped an easy decisive catch in the second innings which costed match to Men in Blue. While Pakistan registered a thrilling last-over victory in second innings, Arshdeep was heavily trolled for his dropped catch.
When the match was hanging by a thread, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma opted for leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi to bowl the 18th over of the match. Pakistan batter Asif Ali got the breather in the form of Arshdeep Singh's error as the pacer dropped an easy catch at short third.
However after the match, Virat Kohli, who played a magnificent 60-run knock in the first innings, backed the young pacer and recalled a similar incident from his initial days which led to sleepless night. The Indian batter shared that while he was dismissed playing a poor shot against Pakistan in the 2009 Champions Trophy, he ended up staring a ceiling fan till 5 am in the morning.
"Anyone can make mistakes under pressure. It is a big game, and the situation was also tight. I remember playing my first game against Pakistan in the Champions Trophy, I played a bad shot off Shahid Afridi and got out. I could not sleep and be just staring at the ceiling till 5 in the morning. I thought I was never going to play again. It is natural to feel bad," Kohli said in a post-match press conference.
Apart from Virat Kohli, cricketers like Harbhajan Singh and Mohammad Hafeez also backed the Indian pacer for his error and urged the Indian cricket fans to not criticize the left-arm fast medium pacer.
