Ahead of the first T20I match between India and England, English opener Charlie Dean could miss the opening fixture with a health concern. Dean went down with a stomach bug that affected the England A camp during the three-T20I series against India A.
Charlie Dean played two games in the recently concluded three-game unofficial T20I Series between the A teams. Dean scored 20 runs with a highest score of 10 not out in the first game which England lost. But the Lionesses came back to clinch the series with a 2-1 margin.

Coming back to Dean's injury, Heather Knight, the England captain, shared the development in the press conference, a day before the game. Knight said: "Charlie Dean is the latest to go down and can take a little bit of time to recover from that. She is the only one that is in potential doubt. We have had a strict quarantine and transition period to come across to the England team [from the A side]. We'll see how she is [as the series progresses]."
She is back bowling: Knight on Sophie Ecclestone
Further in the press conference, Heather Knight spoke about left-arm spinner Sophie Ecclestone, who returned from injury days before travelling to India for the long tour. Knight revealed that Ecclestone has been bowling well but her fielding could be an issue.

"She is doing really well. She is back bowling," Knight said. "The bowling won't be an issue. Probably fielding, a bit nervousness … I have had injuries before, and it is always [about] getting over and trusting your body again."
"In the heat of the battle, Sophie will be doing that and should be able to get over that. She has been tracking really well in training. She has been fielding, diving and things like that. We'll keep an eye on her as she is a key player for us."
