Just weeks after former Real Madrid teammate Casemiro joined the Premier League club Manchester United, midfielder Toni Kroos has taken a dig at the Premier League and the players who move to England for high salaries.

Defending champions Real Madrid will begin their UEFA Champions League 2022-23 campaign against Celtic on Tuesday at the Celtic Park.  Ahead of their UCL opener, the 32-year-old German midfielder has hit out at the Premier League clubs for failing to win any international trophy in 2022.

Kroos told the OMR podcast, "The Premier League clubs haven't won an international title this year. The Television money has been significantly higher in England for years and yet it hasn't resulted in English teams winning everything."

Casemiro joined Manchester United from Real Madrid for a deal worth upto  £70m last month. Now, Kroos took a sly dig at the players who move to the English Premier League for handsome salaries. Kroos asserted, "Thank God, not all players are looking only at the salary, but also at winning a lot of titles and growing more."

Kroos was also asked about the European Super League status and the five-time UCL winner stated, "Obviously, the idea was and still is.  I see that the Super League is being worked on and it may take some time, but in my opinion in the end it will become a reality, but I cannot say when."
