It has been recently reported that Everton’s Carlos Alcaraz, also known as Charly Alcaraz, who is currently on loan at the Merseyside club, has an obligatory buy clause in his loan contract. According to Fabrizio Romano, this obligatory buy clause will be activated after Alcaraz plays five more games for Everton. He has currently featured six times in the Premier League and has made one appearance in the FA Cup for Everton. The report also states that the transfer fee for Charly Alcaraz in case of this obligatory buy clause, will be 18 million euros.
Alcaraz, who moved to Everton on a loan in the latest winter transfer window from Brazilian club Flamengo, has scored one goal and provided one assist till date. Both of these came in the same match; Everton’s 2-1 defeat to Crystal Palace on February 15 in the Premier League, which was also Alcaraz’s first start at the club.
A breif look at the young Argentine's career
This is the second Premier League stint for the 22-year-old Argentine midfielder, as he was initially brought to the English league by Southampton. Having risen from the youth ranks at Argentine football team Racing Club, Alcaraz was scouted and signed by Southampton in 2023. However, right after his transfer, he was loaned out to Italian giants Juventus, with whom he won the Coppa Italia title in the 2023/24 season. Even with his limited playing time, Charly made 12 appearances for Juventus, giving one assist in the process.
Right after the end of his loan move, he was sold to Brazilian club Flamengo, where he played for half a season before being loaned out again to Everton. In his short tenure at Flamengo, he featured in 19 matches, scoring three goals and providing two assists. He was then loaned out to Everton, where he is currently playing. It will be interesting to see whether Everton field Alcaraz in five more matches from now on and trigger the obligatory buy clause.
