Vijay Bharadwaj has been an assistant coach with Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the first three seasons of the IPL

Vijay Bharadwaj, 49, who will work with Hemang Badani and Venugopal Rao as part of the Delhi Capitals’ backroom staff, has been an assistant coach with Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the first three seasons of the IPL. After that, he has been in various different roles in the world of cricket, including coaching, broadcasting, and commentary gigs as well.

The source close to the information surrounding the appointment of Vijay Bharadwaj in the head talent scout role at Delhi Capitals, said, “IPL is not just a two-month tournament. It needs planning, work and strategising throughout the year. There is so much cricket happening in and outside India and you can't afford to switch off. Scouting, camps, trials, player development... so many things are at play and a franchise has to ensure they work 365 days a year to be on top.”

Moreover, after replacing Ricky Ponting in the head coach role at Delhi Capitals, Hemang Badani was quoted as saying, “It’s my absolute honour to be joining Delhi Capitals, and I’m deeply grateful to our owners for trusting me with the job. With the mega auction around the corner, my job, in collaboration with the rest of our coaching staff, is cut out. I can’t wait to get started.”
