Sarfaraz Khan scored his maiden international century in the ongoing first Test against New Zealand in Bengaluru. This was his fourth 50+ score in his fourth Test match for India. After failing to convert his previous half-centuries into a big knock, Sarfaraz finally reached the triple figures, and went on to score 150(195) runs as India reached 462 runs in the second innings, to set New Zealand a target of 107 runs. After Sarfaraz’s hundred, former Indian wicketkeeper Saba Karim revealed his interaction with the young batter after India's Test versus England in Dharamshala in March 2024.

At the start of this year, Sarfaraz Khan had a great start to his international career for India as he went on to score two consecutive half-centuries in his debut Test against England in Rajkot. After, that, Sarfaraz also scored another half-century in his third Test, but couldn’t convert those three knocks into a big ton. Now, the right-handed batter finally completed his maiden Test hundred as India got past New Zealand’s massive 356-run lead in the first innings.

Next time, if I get an opportunity, I will definitely get a hundred: Saba Karim reveals Sarfaraz Khan’s words to him after Dharamshala Test

During a conversation with Anil Kumble and Abhinav Mukund on India's first Test match against New Zealand for JioCinema, Saba Karim revealed that he met Sarfaraz Khan after his half-century against England in Dharamshala earlier this year. The former cricketer said that Sarfaraz promised him to score a hundred if he got an opportunity to play for India the next time. When Sarfaraz Khan finally achieved his hundred, Karim recalled that conversation with him.

“I met Sarfaraz Khan after the Dharamshala Test against England. He got out after scoring his fifty, and he told me, 'Next time, if I get an opportunity, I will definitely get a hundred.' This kind of self-belief that Sarfaraz has shown over the past few years has helped him today. The young generation believes so strongly in their ability to play well, score runs, or become match-winners. That confidence helps them get into the groove quickly, and I think we saw that today in Sarfaraz Khan’s innings,” Saba told JioCinema.
