On Monday, September 23, Fernando Alonso, the two-time former F1 world champion, arrived in India on a special visit on behalf of Aston Martin after competing in the Singapore GP at the Marina Bay Street Circuit a day prior. The 43-year-old visited the Cognizant MEPZ office campus in the Southern Indian city of Chennai, to be a part of an celebratory event of a successful three-year partnership between Aston Martin and the multinational IT company.
Over the last three years, Cognizant has played a key role in revolutionising the use of technology with the Aston Martin, ushering in an era of great success for the F1 team. They provided the UK outfit with “expertise in data, analytics, and machine learning,” to help enhance the team's “daily operations, strengthened its IT infrastructure, and drove innovation and performance both on and off the track.”

In front of the leadership team and hundreds of associates of Cognizant, Fernando Alonso gave insights into how technology and racing merges with each other apart from his mindset to race in F1. The statement from the Spanish driver about the visit read, “It was great to return to India and visit the Cognizant family in Chennai, I have cherished memories of a few podium finishes. It's been extremely valuable to hear firsthand about the work they are doing all around the world and of course with us at the race-track.”
“Over the three years in partnership with Cognizant, its advances in technology and support for the team have been pivotal in helping us improve and achieve results on and off the track,” added Fernando Alonso, who had received a warm welcome upon his arrival in Chennai. Notably, a few sports cars were also parked in the Cognizant MEPZ office campus when the former Ferrari driver made his way there.
Just a day prior, Fernando Alonso had competed in a gruelling Singapore GP at the Marina Bay Street Circuit, finishing in the points in eighth place, while his teammate Lance Stroll took the chequered flag in 14th place. The race went in favour of Lando Norris of McLaren, who closed the gap in the driver’s world championship to Max Verstappen of Red Bull after the Dutchman took the podium in second place ahead of Oscar Piastri of McLaren.
