The Indian Tennis pair of Rohan Bopanna and Sania Mirza crashed out of the mixed-doubles final of the Australian Open 2023. Brazilian pair Rafael Matos and Luisa Stefani of Brazil defeated the Indians in straight sets (6-6, 2-6) at Rod Laver Area. The family members of the Indian players were spotted cheering for them at Rod Laver Arena as it was the last grand slam appearance for Sania Mirza.
While Mirza’s family including his son made the appearance, Rohan Bopanna got much-needed support from his wife at Melbourne Park. Although Rohan Bopanna could not lift the Grand Slam title, he is winning a lot of hearts with his perfect reply to one of the social media users.
Following a game, a fan called Bopanna’s wife as the “most beautiful woman" on Twitter. In response, Bopanna agreed to the observation by writing ‘I agree.’ Bopanna’s response has since then gone viral on the internet and got a lot of applause from netizens for their apt response to the comment, which could have been misinterpreted.

Meanwhile, Sania received a lot of appreciation from the 42-year-old Bopanna for motivating athletes all around the world. “It is special for me to play alongside Sania. She did mention earlier that our first mixed doubles together were when she was 14 years old. Today, we got to play the last match at Rod Laver Arena. Unfortunately, we could not get the title but thank you so much for what you have done for tennis,” Bopanna said.
Notably, the veteran tennis star, Mirza bid adieu to professional tennis after defeat in the AO 2023 XD Final. Mirza said that she still has got the fire to reach another Grand Slam Final but is choosing to say she want other things. “Today I’m here, sitting after a Grand Slam final, knowing that I still have the level to make it to a Grand Slam final. I’m choosing to say that I want other things, and that is very important for me," said Sania.
