As the hotel prices in Ahmedabad have reached an all-time high, costing more than 50,000 per night during India vs Pakistan match in the World Cup, fans have now come up with a new strategy to counter the exorbitant hotel bills. As they prepare to attend the India-Pakistan match at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Motera, cricket enthusiasts are now reportedly getting in touch with hospitals close to the stadium and requesting a one or two-night stay at their facilities.

The cost of a room at these facilities can range from Rs 3,000 to Rs 25,000 for a 24-hour stay, which typically includes food as well as the cost of a medical exam. This is a twin-sharing room because the patient and an attendant are allowed to stay there together. This is a relatively cheaper option for fans than staying at hotels where the prices have increased by up to 100 per cent.

Speaking about the issue, the director of Sannidhya Multi Speciality Hospital in Bopal area, Dr. Paras Shah, stated to Ahmedabad Mirror, “Since it’s a hospital they are asking for a full-body check-up and an overnight stay so both of their purposes are fulfilled, saving money on lodging and getting their health check done.”

Medical director of Sterling Hospitals, Dr Nikhil Lala also gave a statement saying, “We too are getting inquiries for 24-48 hours stays in our hospital, particularly around October 15, as we also have a full body check-up package.” He stated further, “This is due to the upcoming World Cup India-Pakistan match that is scheduled on October 15. Like at our hospitals, the situation seems the same in other city hospitals too. So, we are thinking about coming out with other health packages.”

India versus Pakistan clash is one of the biggest and most anticipated events in the cricketing world. As the two nations do not engage in bilateral series against each other, world cups and Asia Cups are the only tournaments where the arch-rivals square off. This increases the further excitement of fans. The last time India and Pakistan locked horns was in the 2022 T20 World Cup in Australia when India won the thrilling game off the very last ball. The match this time is scheduled for October 15, and is India’s third match of the world cup, the previous two being against Australia and Afghanistan.
