FIA has announced F ormula 2 and Formula 3 schedule for the 2023 season. Among the most notable development in the fresh calendar, F2 will be contested over 14 rounds while F3 has been increased from nine to ten race weekends. Notably, F2 and F3 will race for the first time in Melbourne during the Australian Grand Prix as the venues replace the French GP at Paul Ricard after getting dropped off the 2023 F1 calendar.

In yet another significant development, F2 and F3 will be competing at the opening round in Sakhir with only F2 supporting the next round at Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. All ten F3 weekends are alongside F2 with both series retaining the 2022 format of one reverse-grid sprint race on a Saturday before a feature race ahead of the Formula 1 Grand Prix on a Sunday.

Sakhir, Melbourne, Imola, Monaco, Barcelona, Spielberg, Silverstone, Budapest, Spa and Monza have been recognised as the venues for both the series. Meanwhile, FIA Formula 2 CEO Bruno Michel confirmed that the 2023 F2 calendar will have 14 rounds, the same amount as the current one.

"In 2022, we have enjoyed more action than ever, with a total of 28 races, and we wanted to keep this for next season. The good thing is that there are a lot of tracks who would love to add F2 to their race weekend programme, but we always keep in mind the costs related to more racing.  So, we decided to limit the number of rounds to 14 again for 2023, and we will keep helping the teams to ensure their budgets remain at a proper level," said Mr. Michel.

"As the final two steps on the junior single-seater pathway, I am pleased that in 2023 FIA Formula 2 and FIA Formula 3 continue to race alongside the FIA Formula the FIA Formula One World Championship. There is no better preparation than to compete on these gold-standard grand prix circuits, and I am looking forward to seeing how the next generation of drivers take on a new challenge with the addition of a round in Australia next year," said IA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem.
