no ball stabbed sportstiger

Cricket is more than just a game in India. Fans go crazy if their favourite team loses a game. While being a fan is never a bad idea, things go haywire when fans turn into fanatics. The same happened during a local match in Odisha’s Mahisalanda. A youth was stabbed to death after he got involved in a spat with fans of the opposition team.

The incident took place on Sunday afternoon when a cricket match between two under-18 cricket teams from Shankarpur and Berhampur was underway at Mahisaland, under Choudwar police limits. The deceased has been identified as Lucky Rout (22) of Mahilanda. Meanwhile, the accused Muna Rout, who stabbed him to death is absconding.

The spat began when the on-field umpire declared the delivery of an over as no ball. The two spectators at the venue, Lucky Rout and Jaga Rout got involved in a heated argument. Jaga then called his brother, Muna Rout who beat Lucky with a bat. After Lucky fell unconscious, Muna stabbed him in the chest.

"The dispute began after the main umpire declared the delivery of a ball as no ball resulting in a heated argument between spectators Lucky Rout and Jaga Rout, who then called his bother Muna Rout," claimed a report in the New Indian Express.

"An infuriated Muna rushed to the spot and beat up Lucky with a bat. When Lucky fell to the ground, Muna stabbed him with a knife on his chest," it further stated.

Critically injured Lucky was rushed to the SCB Medical College and Hospital where doctors declared him brought dead. The police were then informed about this whole incident and began a probe. A murder case has also been registered in this matter.
