2. Australia vs India at Melbourne in 2003

2003

The 2003 Boxing Day Test match was a crucial one for the Australian side as India was on a 1-0 lead after the first two games, hence this match became a must-win game for the Aussies to stay alive in this series.  India, on Day 1 of this Test match, gave a blazing start by smashing a quick-fire knock of 195 runs in just 233 balls, which ensured they posted 366 runs on board.

When it looked like India was in the driver's seat Australia in reply scored 558 runs on board despite a six-wicket haul from Anil Kumble (6/176) as the Aussie skipper Ricky Ponting (257) smashed a double century and knocked out the Indian team completely. India managed to set only 95 runs target for Australia and they won it comfortably by 9 wickets to level this series.
