The latest season of Asia Cup 2023 is set to commence on August 30, Wednesday, with Pakistan taking on Nepal in Multan. While the last season of the tournament was played in the T20I format, the upcoming season of the ACC event will be played in the ODI format, owing to the ICC ODI World Cup 2023.
While there will be many fresh faces that we will see in the forthcoming tournament, there will be a lot too who might not be seen in the next ODI edition.
Here are the four names we think will represent their respective nations for the last time in the 50-over format of the competition.
1. Rohit Sharma
The first name that we think would play his last ODI-format Asia Cup in 2023 is the Indian skipper Rohit Sharma . The star Indian opener who has always been in the best of his form, has played some of the finest knocks in various marquee events. However, the Mumbai Indians skipper has been dealing with his form and finding it hard to strike a balance between the Indian captaincy and his batting.
Sharma, who is 36 years old right now, has received severe backlash lately. The Hitman was made the captain of the Indian cricket team in late 2021/early 2022, when Virat Kohli stepped down from the role. Since then, the Maharashtra born has been in question, and keeping everything in mind, we feel this would be the last time we will see him representing India in the 50-over Asia Cup.
