Former Pakistan captain Rashid Latif trolled Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) a couple of weeks ahead of IPL 2025 as he remarked the Virat Kohli-starring team has no chance of lifting the coveted trophy until MS Dhoni is active in the league. Bengaluru will open the tournament against defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on March 22. Both teams will be squaring off against each other at the iconic Eden Gardens. RCB fans are expecting their side to play a fierce brand of cricket and quench their trophy thirst which has been going on since the inception of the league in 2008.
Speaking on Pakistan’s Geo News show, "Haarna Mana Hai", former Pakistan opener Ahmed Shehzad said that if RCB wants to win the title, they should sign up ex-Pakistan pacer Mohammad Amir. Responding to Shehzad’s remark, Latif replied, "As long as MS Dhoni is there in CSK (Chennai Super Kings), don't even think RCB can touch the IPL trophy."
Earlier, Amir expressed his desire to serve RCB in IPL 2026 as he will be eligible to register his name for the cash-rich tournament by the next year. Former Pakistan speedster was replying to the question from a viewer who asked him which team he would like to represent if he gets a chance to play in the IPL.
RCB haven’t tasted success against KKR in the last IPL two seasons
RCB will start their campaign against KKR in the opening contest at the latter’s backyard and they will look to get the better of defending champions who have troubled them in the last two IPL editions. The Challengers will want their new captain Rajat Patidar to script history with his leadership prowess.
CSK, who are considered the arch-rivals of RCB, will be clashing against Mumbai Indians (MI) at the MA Chidambaram on March 23. In the previous season, Bengaluru knocked out Chennai in the must-win round-robin game played at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.
