Ahead of Sunday's Dutch Grand Prix, seven-time Formula 1 World Champion Lewis Hamilton has opened up on the prospect of joining the one-third owner of Mercedes' F1 team and Britain's richest man Jim Ratcliffe for a potential Manchester United takeover.

Earlier this year, Hamilton backed the Broughton consortium to buy Chelsea, which was eventually taken over by American businessman Todd Boehly.

Manchester United fans are desperate to welcome new owners at the Old Trafford club and ahead of his race at the Dutch Gran Prix, Hamilton was asked about the possibility of his involvement in a potential Man United takeover.

Hamilton said: "I haven't had time to catch up with Jim since I was in Namibia. I haven't had a call from him asking if I want to be involved in that just yet.  But I do want to get more and more involved in teams because I really do believe in black ownership, there is a lack of it in sports."

"And black equity, there is a real lack of that. Jim's part-boss and part-partner, I'd say we're more partners because we're in this together.  I hope in the future to do something with Jim and build with him, I don't know when that will be or what that will be," he added.

Meanwhile, Manchester United will host top-placed Arsenal at the Old Trafford on Sunday night in their sixth Premier League 2022-23 fixture. United are on the eighth spot and a win against Arsenal can take them at the fourth place while Arsenal are on a five-match winning streak.
