On Monday, September 30, Antoine Griezmann, the French midfielder announced retirement from international football in a shocking turn of events in a post on the social media platform X, accompanied by a tribute video. The decision from the 33-year-old footballer came after he earned 137 caps for France in his international career, scoring 44 goals, and worked tirelessly in creating attacking opportunities for his teammates apart from helping the defence line-up.

After a decade-long career at the international level, which saw him win the FIFA World Cup in 2018, Antoine Griezmann has decided to hang up his boots for good in French colours. Apart from the coveted FIFA World Cup triumph six years ago, he also went on to lift the UEFA Nations League trophy with France in 2020-21 season, while he was also a part of the national team reaching the final of the UEFA European Championship in 2016.
