Francis Ngannou defeated Brazilian Renan Ferreria in the first round knockout inside the MMA cage at the PFL Super Fight in Saudi Arabi a. After the fight, Ngannou dedicated his win to his late son Kobe, who died at just 15 months old in April 2024. Notably, this was Ngannou’s first fight in six months after the passing of his son. He was emotional after the match and remembered his late son with teary eyes.
Before the fight against Renan Ferreria, Francis Ngannou said he wasn’t sure about his fate and had his last MMA fight in January 2022. After that, he had to leave UFC after a contract dispute. “I hope they can remember his name, because without Kobe we wouldn’t be here tonight. I wouldn’t have (fought),” Ngannou said after the match as quoted in USA Today.

Coming back to cage after a long time, Francis Ngannou was still filled with the grieve of losing his son. The former UFC champion had to face 6-foot-8, 261-pound Renan Ferreria. After the fight, Ngannou said that he still can fight and even deal with the pressure and media. "This fight for me was also a way for me to find out if I could still fight, if I still have it. If I can deal with this, with the pressure, with the fight week, with the media and everything,” Francis Ngannou said after the match.
