Free Fire’s developer, Singapore-based publisher Garena is reportedly all set to re-introduce one of the most popular games, Free Fire, to Indian gamers with localisation. The developers are in the process of relocating their game server to Navi Mumbai after over seven months of deliberation and following government directives. The developers are aiming to align with regular standards to meet the needs of the Indian market.
According to the Economic Times, "Free Fire India will feature a fully localized infrastructure tailored to meet the needs and requirements of the authorities and our stakeholders in India." With this relocation, Garena's commitment is to cater to the demands of the unique preferences of the gaming community which is based in India.
The UP government signed an MoU with Singapore-based Garena to develop the esports industry in the state in July 2023. It leveraged Yotta’s data center in Greater Noida, which is India’s first hyperscale data center park. The reports further state that the new server is being installed at the Data Services facility in Navi Mumbai, and is currently undergoing rigorous testing.
Yotta is currently working closely with Garena’s headquarters to make sure that the server can handle high streaming workloads efficiently and seamlessly. The testing would ensure a hassle-free gaming experience, especially in esports tournaments where technical issues can have a wide impact. The measure of localisation of Free Fire would ensure a smoother and more engaging gaming experience for players.
